(Dee) Spinks and Coordinator Janie Prew attended Texas Safe School and Healthy Student
Summit hosted by Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott in Corpus Christi, Texas February
25-26, 2008. Chariman Spinks conducted two training sessions titled "Violence
Prevention: How Campus Crime Stoppers Can Help Your School." Attorney Gregg Abbott has been traveling
throughout the state recommending that all school establish campus Crime Stoppers or a
program allows students, faculty and staff to pass on information about crimes and
violence, while ensuring anonymous for the tipster.
"Campus Crime Stoppers is
critical to school violence prevention," Attorney General Abbott said. "We are
working closley with the Texas Safety Center and the Governor's Criminal Justice Division
to evaluate the expansion of Crime Stoppers and similar valuable, reporting programs.
Schools must educate teens that it is "Cool to Come Forward." |
